Born in 1979 in the great city of brotherly love, I started shooting in the streets of Philly shortly after high school. I began a nomadic life early on and shifted from neighborhood to neighborhood while living in Philadelphia. I attended school in Boston for Photojournalism and Documentary Photography and remained nomadic, homeless for a year, shooting, printing and editing. After school I lived all over the place. I travelled consistently all throughout the states, piling up plane, train and bus tickets. I had countless epic roadtrips, catching out all over the country with various people, finding myself in strange situations and odd places.
Photography and writing have been the only source of stability I've had over the years. I shoot to make a moment timeless, to keep it so I can push on to the next place. I shoot portraits so I can collect all of the folks I've met over the years, and have built strong relationships in doing so.I shoot film because the process is condusive to how I work. It's unforgiving and expensive and so I make fewer mistakes and cherish my "slowed down" moments and experiences all the more. Photography is a tool for me, to slow the never ending pace down to a complete stop. To make all of the intimate moments more real. To document the ridiculous beauty of it all. To just stop and pay attention...
